Reti Chess allows anyone to run their very own multiplayer chess game on their own Node.js server, playing with their friends or relatives.
Reti Chess works and plays like a real chess game, feature supported by the chess.js JavaScript library that allows users to move and validate real-life chess moves.
Node.js, Express, and Socket.IO are responsible for handling the interaction between the two players, letting them connect to a common game board, move pieces around, keep game timers in sync, and also allowing them to IM each other via a chat utility.
Reti Chess can be used on Internet servers, inside a company's Intranet, on your own smaller networks (LANs) or even just on your localhost.
There's also no support for AI players, so make sure you have someone to play with before deploying it.
The game is pretty fast, works in real-time, and comes with a beautiful graphic package.
Requirements:
- Node.js 0.8 or higher
Limitations:
- Refreshing the Reti Chess window will disconnect the game.
