Help for AccomplishmentTracker 2.0:
Making a ToDo List:
1) Decide which type of task you are about to record. Click on the
Appropriate Radio button at the top of the screen. ( 'Work', 'Home', or another
category of your own choosing. See Below. )
2) Type in the task you wish to record in the text area beneath 'Accomplishment Description'.
3) Click on the 'Add to ToDo' Button or push the 'Return'
key. Notice that it has appeared in the ToDo List
4) Note that if you push the 'Return' and the 'Shift'
key after entering text, the text will be moved to the Accomplishment Section.
Accomplish Something
1) Click on the 'Today' Button. Anything you mark as
accomplished will be marked for the date to the left of the today button. If you forgot
to mark something yesterday, you can use the '<<' Button to move back to the appropriate date.
2) Select the item you have accomplished from the 'ToDo List' by
clicking on it. Then Click on the 'Accomplished It' Button. You will see that it has moved to the
'Accomplishments for the Week of:' Text Area.
3) If you need to copy or get the Accomplishments for the week, check
the AccomplishmentTracker folder for the subfolder with the same name as the selected 'Type'
of accomplishment. For instance, my status for 'Work' for the week of 10/2/2000 is
within the 'work' subfolder in the file named 'Status10.2.2000.txt'

new catagories. When you are done, click on the 'Apply' Button. You can also click on the 'Cancel' Button and none of
your changes will take effect.

Importing Folders from previous versions
Overview: You will be moving your existing accomplishment folders to the new App Folder, but
not copying the 'support' folder. You will then be copying the existing 'acctyp' from the old 'support'
folder to the AccomplishmentTracker2.0 'support' folder.
1) Install AccomplishmentTracker2.0 in a different location.
2) Select the old AccomplishmentTracker Folder and duplicate it. (This is just a temporary
backup)
3) Open the old AccomplishmentTracker Folder.
4) Select all of the folders within the 'AccomplishmentTracker' Folder except
for the 'support' folder. They should have names like 'work', 'home', 'project1', etc.
5) Copy the folders to the new Accomplishment Tracker 2.0 Folder. You will need to overwrite
the existing folders for 'Home', work. Again, do not copy the 'support' Folder to the new
application!
6) Go to the old AccomplishmentTracker's 'suport' folder. Copy the 'acctyp' file to the new
Accomplishment Tracker 2.0 'support' Folder. The 'acctyp' file contains a listing of your Accomplishment types.
7) Run the new AccomplishmentTracker 2.0!
Important Notes:
- Due to people tightening mail server security due to spam, this program will not email
out with certain mail servers. The current workaround is that text in the email window can
be selected and copied into any other email program. The way the mail works is unchanged
since the last version, so if it worked with the 1.0 version, it should work here.
New in this Version:
- You can now choose the menu item 'Accomplishments for the this type', which shows all of
your accomplishments you have ever made under that type. You can use this to peruse your
accomplishments for the past few years.
- Preferences which allow indipendent control of font size for both the main app and the
slide show.
- Preferences for way the dates are displayed. (m/d/y, d/m/y, y/m/d)
- Preferences for which day your week begins on. Though it might be clearer to say that
you can now choose the day after your status report is due on.
- Keyboard shortcuts! Typing in an accomplishment and hitting the return key
automatically puts it into your todo list. Typing in an accomplishment and hitting the
return key + shift puts it into your accomplishments for that
week.
- More Keyboard shortcuts! Command-T Toggles the SlideShow from hidden to
displayed. Command-P brings up the preferences panel
- Yet More Keyboard shortcuts! Select an item in the ToDo List and hit the 'Return' key and it moves to
Accomplishments. Select an item in the ToDo or the Accomplishments list and hit the 'Delete' key and it removes the
selected item.
- When you quit, font sizes, first day of the week, date style, SlideShow visibility, and
which Accomplishment Type you were working with are now saved, as well as the window size
and position.
- Application's interface has been rewritten to take advantage of Sun's Swing libraries.
This means less flashing when loading, changing accomplishments, moving and resizing.
- You can edit items in the ToDo and the Accomplishments List.
- Greatly expanded SlideShow sayings. If there is enough demand, I may end up writing a
sayings editor.
- Finally, it is fully compatible with AccomplishmentTracker1.0's data! (details on importing data are above)
