Ruby Holidays Gem works on top of the Ruby built-in Date class, extending its functionality to handle national and religious holidays.
The library will take a date and run it against a set of definitions lists, detecting if in any region of the globe that particular day is considered a holiday for various reasons, and what holiday is it.
Date ranges checks can also be performed, while all timezone settings are ignored.
Ruby Holidays Gem can be used with both Ruby and JRuby.
